Last weekend I had the incredibly opportunity to photograph a bridal party with expertly painted Día De Los Muertos wedding makeup, done by the queens of Halloween makeup Amelia C & Co. The Amelia C team painted 20 sugar skulls on the bride, groom and their entourages that day. The guys had their faces done as a pale skeleton look with metallic detailing, while the girls’ looks were more beauty oriented, with red sparkles on their eyes and bling detailing on their faces. The bridal party had their full faces painted, but the bride and groom cleverly only had half their faces done so their unpainted sides would face the crowd during the ceremony. The icing on the cake had to be the dark, gorgeous florals from By Dzign, including red rose and black accent bouquets and red roses with black glitter incorporated into the bridesmaids’ hair. The bride told me that they chose the Day of the Dead sugar skull themed wedding because of their love of Halloween and their desire to have a truly unique and vibrant wedding day. Their destination wedding was held at Caesars Palace and they couple celebrated the day in their signature spooky, glamourous style.
Amelia’s team had the room set up in stations, with airbrushing, hand painting, smoky eyes, red lips, face jewels, and finally a glam hair station. Of course I had to grab some behind the scenes shots of their fabulous artists working on this amazing offbeat wedding creation. Happy Halloween + Feliz Día de los Muertos!
