Monica + Ryan recently had their engagement photoshoot up in the mountains just outside of Las Vegas. We had plans to do a fall themed session with leaves and blankets and balloons. We drove up the mountain, and were totally surprised to see a white blanket of perfect snow! Apparently, the day before their shoot, a storm passed through the mountain and they got several inches of snow. Well, the show goes on! Monica was seriously a trooper – she had open-toed heels in anticipation of the fall weather, but tromped through the snow like it was nothing. I love a girl who’s willing to sacrifice comfort for the sake of the photos, haha! They also brought along their sweet pup Duke, who was perfectly happy to play around and stretch in the snow.
After doing some snowy shots, we headed back down the mountain to do try and catch some sun flaring through the yellow leaves and pines. We still got to use the colorful balloons, and Monica hand-made a chalkboard sign for them to use on their save the date cards. They switched into their casual outfit and did some family shots with Duke. He loves to give slobbery puppy kisses, as you can see below… such a lovable boy. Monica’s hair and makeup was expertly done by Your Beauty Call.
This couple was such a joy to work with. I knew them already because I photographed Ryan’s sister’s wedding earlier this year, and turns out Monica and I also have some mutual friends. Vegas is a small world! They laugh with each other and genuinely enjoy each other’s company, and Ryan is always trying something goofy to make her squirm and giggle. (Worked like a charm, Ryan.) I love those spontaneous big laugh moments. I can’t wait to make more memories for them at their October 2016 wedding!
